Reflect

 It's that time of year, 2012 is coming to a close!  5 years ago I started a New Year's Eve tradition that I would like to share with you.  I always wanted to be that girl that wrote in her journal everyday, but I just couldn't find the time or the ambition.  My best friend suggested that I get a daily planner and write in the daily space given.  You may write the important events that occur, vent when you need to, write down your prayers, ambitions, etc.  The journal that I use includes a monthly overview, in that space I write down something that I learned or observed that month. Writing in my journal has now become one of my favorite things, I no longer feel "pressure" for perfection, but I find an ease in writing my daily happenings.  To get to my point...at the end of the year I open up my journal and reflect on the year.  I read my ups, downs and everything in-between.  We're always so quick to reach for the future, but why not take the time to stop and smell the roses.  Will you take the time?

Happy New Year!

MERRY CHRISTMAS

"But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,
“Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased.”
Luke 2:10-14

Merry Christmas!

My New Digs

With my recent move came a lot of changes, one of the most exciting was moving into a my own place!  When I moved in I had one week to really get crafty before the start of my new job, so I kicked it in high gear!  I'm making lists and checking them twice, this winter is sure to be full of lots of decorative crafts!  Here are a few pics of what it looks like so far, I hope you like!

Mint is the New Black.

I've been having just a bit of fun with the color mint...whether it be dishes, crafts, clothes or nails, I can't get enough!  Has mint replaced my ever trusty black?  I think we may have a contender.

Thankful

 Tis the season of thanksgiving and I have so much to express my gratitude for!  I am thankful for my recent employment, for the new city I reside in, for my family and friends that have supported me unconditionally especially through the journey of the last six months, for a wonderfully faithful Savior and for the precious gift that is life!

What are you thankful for?!?!

 "Rejoice always;
pray without ceasing;
in everything give thanks;
for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."

Recipe Love

Let's get crafty!  I just couldn't stand to look at my boring recipe cards any longer, so I combined scrapbook paper and alphabet stickers and my recipes have gone from boring to beauties!  I also love to be organized, so I took it one step further by separating my recipes into two boxes; my family recipes are in the Snoopy box (which was my grandmother's) and my new recipes from friends go in my DIY "Tested and Proved" recipe box!  Go all out, get creative and enjoy!

I hope you like! Have a super crafty day!

When life hands you lemons...

Trust the Lord.
Read His Word.
Thank Him.
Praise Him.

"Before the mountains were born or You gave birth to the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God."
Psalm 90:2

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name, that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God.  Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen"
Ephesians 3:14-21

Making a list and checking it twice.

I am what you might call a "List Lady."  Small tasks and big tasks, packing or shopping I have a list with me wherever I go. I just love the feeling of taking a pen to the paper, making a list and then the feeling when you can make a line through and mark it complete.  Come on, you have to agree, there is truly nothing like it!  Therefore the craft of the day is a DIY canvas note-board.  With all of my many lists I needed a place to keep them, so I got out my craft bins and got to work.  I happened to have a lot of these supplies within my craft closet, but feel free to modify based on the supplies you have on hand.  Have fun and take a look...

"Canvas"
I started with a plain canvas that I had on hand.  The size and type you use will depend on whether you are going to hang your note-board or not and where you would like to have it located.
(This note-board may also be used as a photo-board if you would like, an example will be shown later)

"Fabric"
I chose two fabrics, one to use to cover the board and the second to be used as a fabric flower decoration.

"Supplies"
 There it all is...my craft bin explosion. For supplies I used a canvas, fabric, floral wire (leftover from my best friends wedding bouquets), mod podge and a hot glue gun.  For another option you may use scrapbook paper and wooden clothespins rather than fabric and floral wire.

"The Fabric Wrap"
This can be done two different ways depending on the type of canvas you are using. I used a flat canvas, so I applied a thin layer of mod podge and stretched the fabric around the edges. In order to keep the edges secure I used hot glue to hold them in place.  Now, if you are using a thicker canvas you can simply stretch the fabric around and staple the backside.

"The Paper Wrap"
If you only have scrapbook paper lying around, no problem.  Use either superglue or mod podge to secure the paper and wrap it around the edges.

"Securing Floral Wire"
With the floral wire I simply wrapped it around the edge of the canvas and hot glued it to the back side.

"The Finished Products"
Fabric Design:
I created a small fabric flower for a little added detail and the lists slide in and out of from underneath of wire.
Paper Design:
I added a little lace for some extra cuteness and the wooden clothespins help to simply clip the notes on and off.

I hope you like! Have a super crafty day!
